Maxidel, however, insist the player remains contractually bound to them, claiming existing agreements covering representation and image rights that extend several years into the future.

They have indicated they are prepared to pursue the matter through formal legal channels, potentially as far as the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Such a scenario could complicate any summer transfer, with clubs wary of unresolved representation disputes when negotiating deals of this magnitude.

From a footballing perspective, Diomande’s appeal is clear.
