Manchester United are heading into a pivotal summer window.
With attacking depth high on the agenda, United’s scouting department has been monitoring several elite young forwards across Europe as they look to refresh the squad.
Premier League rivals are circling similar profiles, setting the stage for a competitive market.
One rising star in particular has quietly moved onto the radar of multiple English giants, thanks to a breakout season on the continental stage.
What makes this situation even more intriguing is that the player’s future may not be decided solely on performances or transfer fees.
That player is Yan Diomande, the 19-year-old winger who has taken the Bundesliga by storm since joining RB Leipzig from Leganes last summer.
Yan Diomande has scored 10 goals in all competitions during his debut campaign in Germany, quickly establishing himself as one of Europe’s most exciting young attackers.
His form has not gone unnoticed, with Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur all tracking his progress ahead of the summer window.
Even Bayern Munich are understood to have explored a move earlier this year, underlining the level of interest surrounding the teenager.
However, away from the pitch, Diomande has become embroiled in a complex and potentially disruptive dispute involving player representation.
The issue centres on rival claims between Roc Nation, founded by Jay-Z, and Maxidel Management, the agency run by former Leeds winger Max Gradel, as reported by The Athletic.
Roc Nation announced Diomande as a new client in early February, placing him alongside high-profile names such as Vinicius Junior and Gabriel Martinelli on their official platforms.
Maxidel, however, insist the player remains contractually bound to them, claiming existing agreements covering representation and image rights that extend several years into the future.
They have indicated they are prepared to pursue the matter through formal legal channels, potentially as far as the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Such a scenario could complicate any summer transfer, with clubs wary of unresolved representation disputes when negotiating deals of this magnitude.
From a footballing perspective, Diomande’s appeal is clear.
Primarily deployed on the right flank, he has shown the ability to beat defenders on the outside or drift inside to create chances, contributing five league assists along the way.
Yan Diomande is expected to command a fee in excess of £80 million, a figure that reflects both his immediate impact and long-term resale potential.
For Manchester United, the situation presents both opportunity and risk, as elite talent rarely comes without complications at the very top level.
