Manchester United have held a sustained interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande for some time, as they look to build a successful future at the football club.
The 19-year-old has been a stalwart at the 2026 World Cup for the Ivory Coast, shining on the world stage and proving to football fans just why he is so in demand this summer.
The Red Devils are not alone in their interest, with PSG and Liverpool both at the front of the queue to pull off a move for the tricky winger, making a potential deal difficult. Amid recent speculation, Yan Diomande has now made a decision on which club he will join this summer, should he depart Leipzig.
Diomande believes the project at Paris Saint-Germain, led by chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi and football advisor Luis Campos, will give him the best opportunity to consistently compete for trophies and potentially become a future Ballon D’or winner, reports David Ornstein for The Athletic.
While Manchester United’s Premier League rivals Liverpool have shown willingness to bid €100 million for Diomande, it appears the 19-year-old’s mind is set on Paris. It will take a bid from the Champions League holders to beat the Premier League side to the transfer, however – so a move to PSG is not yet a formality.
The huge price tag set by RB Leipzig is the reason the Red Devils aren’t in the mix to sign Diomande this summer, as they focus on making their biggest signings in the midfield.
Diomande is an exciting player, but not a priority for Manchester United just yet. Should he not get a move this window, it will certainly be interesting as to whether United make a move at the end of the 2026/27 season.
Something that will affect whether they can do so is a place in the UEFA Champions League. Manchester United qualified for the tournament for next season, they’ll need to make the right signings this summer to ensure that a move for Diomande and other elite players can remain viable in the future.
