Yan Diomande officially signs for Real Madrid

Yan Diomande has found his next club after months of speculation surrounding his future side as the summer transfer window progressed.

The Ivory Coast international, who impressed at the recent World Cup finals, was linked with a move to Manchester United for a large period with reports even suggesting that United were in pole position to sign the attacker.

Manchester United were not able to complete the move, however, with other clubs moving ahead of the Red Devils.

Real Madrid were one of these with Jose Mourinho looking to construct the best possible squad ahead of his first season back at the Spanish club.

Now, Diomande has officially made the move to Madrid with the LaLiga giants taking to their official website to confirm the move.

A press release, on the official website, reads: “Real Madrid C.F. and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Yan Diomande, who will be linked to our club for the next seven seasons, until June 30, 2033.”

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that the deal is worth €125m with €15m in additional fees.

Mourinho has already made a number of moves this summer, signing Marc Cucurella from Chelsea whilst subsequently bringing Bernardo Silva into the project amongst others.

With Diomande now on board, full focus will switch towards the upcoming LaLiga campaign, one where Madrid will be looking to re-claim the league title following two consecutive seasons of dominance from Barcelona.

Real Madrid open their league campaign on Saturday 22nd August against Espanyol away from home before returning to Estadio Bernabeu to face Real Sociedad.

Prior to that, Jose Mourinho’s side have three pre-season matches against Ferencvaros, Deportivo A Coruna, and Schalke 04, where Yan Diomande could make his debut for the Spanish side.
