AC Milan are expected to invest in a new striker in the upcoming summer, and a name who has remained heavily in contention is Joshua Zirkzee – he has given an update on his future in a recent interview.

In many ways, this has been Zirkzee’s breakout season, even if he has been a name that has excited for a few years now. With Bayern Munich, he was deemed to be a wonderkid, but he was never given the chance to prevail in Bavaria.

This season, he was given the chance, and he has largely contributed to Bologna’s Champions League entry. Showing that he can be the striker that people believed he would be in years gone by.

As a result, interest has been on the rise as the season has progressed, but Milan have been a prominent option throughout, and with the news of his release clause, he could be the one chosen to be the Rossoneri’s next No.9.

Speaking to Corriere di Bologna, he offered an update on his future, and his words have been relayed by Radio Rossonera.

“I’m a better player now, for sure. A season like this earns you a lot of points, also in terms of experience.”

Champions League football next season…

“The Champions League will be a great challenge, very exciting. I’ve dreamed of playing it since I was a child, I won it with Bayern Munich, but now it will be exciting to play it, because with the German club it’s as if I didn’t.”

What are your plans for the future?

“‘Right now, my head is only in Bologna. I want to recover from my injury and enjoy the break.”
