
Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to make his place in the footballing world felt, even after his retirement from playing the game.
The former Manchester United star, who played at Old Trafford between 2016 and 2018, finished his career with a three-year spell at AC Milan, where he made 78 appearances and scored 38 goals.
His prior spell at Milan came between 2010 and 2012, in both a loan aspect and permanent aspect, with him making 85 appearances, scoring 56 goals.
With his professional playing career behind him, he has continued his close relation with AC Milan by becoming one of the club’s Senior Advisors, with him deeply involved in internal matters. He has also been featured on Fox Sports.
The summer transfer window only furthers internal matters as clubs across the world look to out-beat each other by signing players.
AC Milan are no different to this with the club looking to better its fifth place Serie A finish in the upcoming campaign.
Now, as the club attempts to improve its squad, new reports linking Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Luka Modric have emerged.
As revealed by Croatian news outlet Sportske Novosti, the Senior Advisor has called Modric twice in recent days to reiterate that everyone at the club would like him to stay.
The midfielder’s contract recently expired, meaning he is a free agent currently, giving him a choice this summer.
Calcio Mercato state that a meeting between the player’s agent and the club has been set with Luka Modric demanding specific technical and sporting guarantees.
The outlet also say that the midfielder wants AC Milan to focus on winning and not just competing in the coming season.
With Modric’s future uncertain, a phone call from Zlatan Ibrahimovic may not come as a surprise. Instead, it can be considered an indicator of the club’s desire to keep the Croatian legend at the club next season.
