Gasso, the son of head coach Patty Gasso, joined the Sooners staff in 2015 after working as a graduate assistant for OU in 2012 and 2013.
Serving as the team's hitting coach, Oklahoma has notched a .350 batting average, 7.8 runs per game, a whopping 800 home runs and six Big 12 Players of the Year during Gasso's tenure.
Prior to his time as a graduate assistant, Gasso played college baseball and earned an exercise science degree from East Central University.
Last season, Gasso's hitters led the nation in batting average, slugging percentage, runs scored, runs per game and home runs en route to a 61-1 record and the Sooners' third consecutive national title.
Gasso will share the associate head coach role with Jennifer Rocha, who serves as OU's pitching coach.
Oklahoma begins its season at 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 8 from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, against Utah Valley in the first game of the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.
