Without question, the AUSL inaugural regular season has been a success. This in thanks to the many sellout crowds and the talented players across the country. Now, the attention is shifting towards the postseason with the Bandits and Talons set to face off for the AUSL Championship. However, each team had one more game left. Here is a recap of Games 47 and 48 in Tuscaloosa and Rosemont.

Game 47: One Final Charge

While the Volts may not be in the postseason, fans of the squad will see them soon (more on that later). The Volts found the scoreboard early against the Talons in the top of the second inning. Dejah Mulipola hit an RBI, Mia Scott added a two-run double, and Ciara Briggs hit a sacrifice fly RBI in the inning.

In the bottom of the third, the Talons cut into the 4-0 Volts lead with an RBI double by Sydney Romero and two-run home run by Caroline Jacobsen.

Danieca Coffey hit a groundout RBI in the top of the fourth as Scott hit another one in the fifth, giving the Volts a 6-3 lead.

Yet, Jacobsen added another RBI with a double in the bottom of fifth to close the lead, but it wasn’t enough. The Volts end the AUSL regular season with an 8-16 record, but played hard. Payton Gottshall notched the win in circle, going four innings in relief. She allowed three hits, an earned run, and struck out six.

Game 48: One More Time In Rosemont

All things considered, it feels right to end the regular season where it started back in June. The Blaze and Bandits faced off one final time at Parkway Bank Sports Complex. The Bandits found the scoreboard in the bottom of the first via a Bubba Nickles-Camarena RBI walk.

Baylee Klingler added an RBI single in the top of the seventh for the Blaze. Ultimately, the Bandits got the win by a score of 5-1, making their record 15-9 on the season. The Blaze end the season at 7-17, but were in a lot of the games.

Emiley Kennedy, Lexi Kilfoyl, and Taylor McQuillin combined to allow seven hits, one run, and three strikeouts for the Bandits. McQuillin tied for the league lead in saves with four.
