Tensions remain high in Sydney, Australia surrounding bull sharks.

Following a spree of attacks – four in 48 hours, including a surfer who lost his leg, and a 12-year-old boy who lost his life – another bull shark has been spotted in shallow water, while a mangled dolphin carcass washed up onshore.

The scene was captured at New South Wales’ Bungan Beach by photographer Cameron Bloom. “Thankfully the lifeguard at Bungan pulled me out of the water and told me about the 2.5m dolphin just up the beach being circled by a large (possibly) bull shark right on the shore,” Bloom noted. See the footage below.

World champion surfer, Tom Carroll, commented on the video: “Irresistible scent of chewed dolphin - very healthy ocean - good to hear you weren’t part of the food chain that day, Cam!”

Elsewhere, in a repost of the video, twin brother of Mercury Psillakas – who was attacked and killed by a great white shark, while surfing Dee Why last September – Mike Psillakas wrote: “And tell me, is this normal? I haven't seen anything like this surfing around here my whole life.”

Surf Life Saving NSW deployed a drone at Bungan Beach, following the reports of shark activity. “The drone spotted three bull sharks and the beach was quickly closed,” they reported, while also urging caution for anyone entering the water.

“It was a huge dolphin. It could have died from anything, but it was seriously attacked by quite a few sharks,” Bloom told 7NEWS. “It came really close to the shore, would disappear and then come back.”

As mentioned, this recent incident comes after a nightmarish 48 hours in Sydney. 27-year-old Andre de Ruyter was surfing near Manly Beach when he was attacked by a shark. In the latest update, doctors amputated de Ruyter’s leg, but he’s on the road to recovery. (Support his journey via GoFundMe here.)

In a separate incident, 12-year-old Nico Antic was mauled while swimming in the Sydney Harbor. Sadly, the young boy passed away from his injuries.

Be safe out there.
