Monday, July 28, wasn’t the biggest, best Teahupo’o ever seen. But it was really, really good. And Matahi Drollet snagged the wave of the day, perhaps the most technically difficult and impressive tube ride of his storied career. I know how that sounds. Considering his pedigree, that’s quite the claim. But the way he maneuvered under the slab, staying high and tight over a ravenous foamball, then coming out standing tall, it's just not something most humans can pull off. You can see from Matahi's reaction in the channel (where he normally gives a nonchalant smile) that this one hit different.
