For all the aspiring clothing designers out there, going to school, learning their craft, putting in the hard yards to hone their skills, the folks at Outerknown are looking for some help this summer. They've announced that they're looking for someone to redesign their best-selling Blanket Shirt. And for the effort, there's a $10,000 prize and summer internship on the table.

The company, founded by 11-time world champ Kelly Slater and John Moore, has teamed up with the executive search firm, Joe's Blackbook, to put the call out there to juniors at design schools around the United States. The mission: create a more genderless silhouette for the Blanket Shirt. Submi ssions are due by April 5, see the flyer below for more details.

Besides the cash money and internship, the winning design will get a limited production run of the shirt, which will then be sold at the retail location nearest to the winner's school this fall when school's back in session. Outerknown will also throw a party at their offices in L.A. to celebrate the accomplishment.

When Outerknown was launched in 2015, Slater and Moore put a premium on making clothing that was as sustainable as possible. Case in point, the Blanket Shirt, which has evolved into one of the company's most iconic pieces. Made with 100 percent organic cotton and buttons made from tagua corozo nuts, to be honest, they're pretty damn comfortable. They have some other exciting stuff coming down the pipeline in the not too distant future with some really interesting innovations in the fabrics they're using. Stay tuned, and design groms, get those submissions in so you can spend your summer with some great humans and put a little coin in your pocket.
