In regards to in-demand shapers and highly sought-after surfboards, there’s several names that rise to the top but there’s one that stands out in a very unique way, Ryan Burch. It’s not just the weirdness of his two-tipped Pickle Fork that sets him apart, its proven performance of that board and his whole range of fishes, asymms, logs, and gliders. His part in Psychic Migrations set off a flame that burns to this day fueled by his continued progression and the accompaniment of surfers like Bryce Young, Steph Gilmore, and Mikey Wright.

The lines drawn on waves by a Burch board are enough to make the weird lines of a Burch board transform into something magical, mystical, and mysterious. The good news for all those would-be Reggae Sharks or Pickle Forks is that his whole range of boards are now more easily available under his new Lam Line production. You can check what’s available at his website here.

Whereas up until recently all Burch boards were custom shaped with hand drawn artwork, the new boards will be made more efficiently by a team of trusted partners. His hand-shaped customs are still options for customers willing to wait and pay the premium price and the Lam Line will offer stock options at nearly half the price.

“This is a line of boards with a screen-printed laminate instead of a pencil drawing and they’re computer shapes of some of my proven designs–finished by shapers who are familiar with my designs and who I really admire.”

“Once they’re shaped, I do quality control and go over them to make sure they feel like mine and that it has all of the design features I want people to feel when they ride one of my boards …then they go to Alex “Superwolf” Villalobos for glassing. His resin art is amazing and has been elevating my boards for some time now.”

“These are still really premium surfboards, they’re just not 100% hand-shaped and all finished by me. The reason for doing this is that my boards have been popular enough to make the waitlist really long so this will make them more available. The Lam Line offers a slightly better price point option for those who want a really quality board made here in San Diego at Moonlight Glassing where I do my shaping.”
