What’s your go-to wetsuit transportation situation? 5-gallon bucket? Wrong. Big Rubbermaid bin thing? Not bad, but not terribly useful for anything other than chucking it in the back of a vehicle. Plus, it’s pretty easy to plop a wet wetsuit in one, close the lid, then kinda forget about it overnight, or worse, for a couple days, the dripping wet wetsuit and beach grime and lord knows what else festering in a pool not unlike that in which life on earth first developed.

What you want for a wetsuit storage/transport deal is a bag. I see lots of people using things like IKEA tote bags for this and, well, that’s free marketing for IKEA which they don’t need, and it’s a temporary solution because those big blue bags don’t last that long and they leak like crazy because they’re made to carry candles and fake plants in, not wetsuits. My go-to for pure wetsuit storage and transportation is the Sweetish Surf Tote from FERAL Wetsuits.

Get it? Sweetish. It’s kinda sweet and it’s kinda like the blue bag from IKEA. So, you know, Sweetish.

Here’s why it’s rad. It's big (like 75-liter capacity). It’s got a nice, flat bottom (hey-yo) so you can stand in it and change out of your suit, like you would that big Rubbermaid bin, but, unlike a bin, it’s really easy to carry around. Like, say, from your car to the beach if you’re chilling at the beach all day. Plus, it’s freaking huge so you can toss in a wetsuit, a towel, snacks, beers, your favorite Transformers toys, your dog, more beers, your dog’s beers, your dog’s Transformers, your dog’s wetsuit, etc. etc. Ever try to carry a full plastic bin down to the beach? It sucks. You need two hands. With the Sweetish Surf Tote, you throw it over your shoulder and you STILL have two hands free to carry boards. Can’t slap stickers on it like you can a plastic bin, but there are plenty of other surfaces in your life to decorate. It’ll be fine.

Plus, it’s designed and built by the same two hardcore, everyday surfers who founded FERAL wetsuits. If you know their suits, you know the whole deal is there are no gimmicks. Just good quality, simple design that works and that will work for a long, long time.

The Sweetish Surf Tote is made from vinyl, which is waterproof, and it has waterproof seams, so it’s not gonna leak all over the place when your wetsuit is soaked. I’ve had mine for at least 3 years now and even though I absolutely abuse the thing, it’s as good as new. It’s a beach bag on days I’m not gonna surf, handling all manner of snacks and speakers and sunscreen and water bottles. I use it as a mountain bike bag sometimes, tossing a helmet and gloves and all kinds of cool bike stuff in there. I’ve used it to carry firewood in a pinch. My kids love it when I swing ‘em around in it. It’s a bag, so, the possibilities abound.

Best part is it’s only $50. Crappy backpacks that have half the room cost more than that and have zippers that will corrode and break or get clogged with sand. There’s really nothing to break here. One of the best purchases I’ve made for the beach.
