San Clemente native Cole Houshmand clinched his spot on the WSL's 2024 Championship Tour last year.

At 23 years old and 220 pounds, he'd be considered a light heavyweight if he was an MMA fighter in the Ulitmate Fighting Championships.

Instead, he's a power surfer with a mean backhand whip who can also boost huge airs. In the video below, fans can get to more about Houshmand.

Clothign brand Vissla captioned the edit above:

"Since 2014, Cole Houshmand has been part of the Vissla team, and since then, Vissla’s cameras have followed every step of the way.

"TEN YEARS LATER is a film that documents the progression of a 13-year-old kid from San Clemente, to his impressive climb to the Championship Tour at 23."

The short flick features key people in Houshmand's career, like his father, legendary shaper Matt Biolos, the Vissla team, and CT surfer Griffin Colapinto.

While his family knew the chances of making the tour were slim, they were super supportive, and value the education that comes with life on tour.

For Houshmand, it's been a "lifelong dream" and although his immediate goal is "World Title, Final Five," he's got another, less palpable goal.

"I'm gonna try to make everyone proud this year," he says.

But he's already nailed that one.

"I think it's important for us as parents, we want to make sure that our son knows that we love him regardless of how successful he is at surfing," says his father, Shawn Houshmand. "I'm not gonna love him more or because he's world champion or if he made a tour contest or wins a heat."
