Orange County surfer-shaper-skater Grant Noble has been on a tear. Since launching his own label earlier this year, he has been making waves and, despite a wicked summer flat spell, doing his best to ride em too. A few weeks ago, in collaboration with Daydream Surf Shop, his Case Study episode released as well as a fresh batch of boards for Daydream in Costa Mesa and their pop up in Japan.

Now he’s back with "Nice to Meet Ya", a short film shot in Mainland Mexico thanks to lens work of Dan Pascasio and fancy footwork from some talented friends Brett Kline and Josh Tanzer. While the dismal summer made strike missions a necessity to wet the whistle, it also left plenty of time to be shaping boards and Grant’s blades are certainly looking sharp in all sizes.

Kyle Kennelly, owner of Daydream Surf Shop, regards Grant as one of the most talented and driven shapers of the younger generation who came up through the glass shops of Orange County and developed a keen eye for sleek designs with a fine attention to detail.

For a guy like Grant, whose ideal day would consist of surfing, shaping, and skating in between, the flat days caused for idle hands and the need to track down some waves for some blissful release. “Our summer was cursed with the worst flat spell I’ve seen, we shouldn’t be struggling to grovel up the beach on a 9’6 at San O. There were about 4 times I surfed a wave bigger than waist high this summer and 3 of those 4 days had howling onshore winds—we needed to get outa here!”

“Earlier this spring, I launched my own label “Grant Noble Surfboards.” I had given a few boards to some of my favorite surfers around my zone and in mex. Being fed up with this summers waves, I called up whoever was free and we left that same week. The crew was myself, Brett Kline and Josh Tanzer going over to meet up with Dan Pascacio in Mexico.”

It feels very safe to say that Grant is worth keeping your eyes on, we'll be looking forward to what's to come.
