While each of those edits were equally impressive, none went as deep behind-the-scenes on the wave and area as this short film from Jordy Maree and and Seb Ilderton, titled, simply: "The Longest Wave in Africa."
"Namibia is basically just one big desert," says Maree in the opening segment. "It's crazy, the wildlife there, from the Flamingo to the jackals to the seals...it's really raw and intense, and when you get to see that wave for the first time, it's crazy. I didn't think something like that existed. It's just picture perfect."
From there, the 13-minute film delves into detail on a few of 2023's best swells, with thoughts (and 30-second tubes) from Luke Van Wyk, Luke Thompson, Alan Van Gysen, Mikey February, and more.
While you've seen Skeleton Bay before, maybe not from this POV.
