As the days go by more and more documentation of the "people's swell", Hurricane Erin, is coming online. By this point we've all seen multiple signatures--incredible waves--of the historic storm from the Caribbean on up through East Coast and then back across the Atlantic, where certain spots went XL.

Judging by the caliber of the lineup of Nathan Florence, Nic von Rupp, Clement Roseyro, Natxo Gonzalez, and of course local heavies Gearoid Mcdaid and Connor Maguire. Earlier this week, Mcdaid dropped his vlog and now we have the latest from Nic von Rupp and Mountains of The Sea.

When watched back to back, you get a real sense of the unprecedented nature for waves of this size to grace Ireland's shores in August. Mcdaid's vlog takes you through his pre-swell musings on grabbing his boards from storage, warm weather and "crazy hot water", and every visiting surfer call him to ask about what wetsuits to bring--plus updates as the days progressed and the swell dropped. Whereas von Rupp's drops the narrative and gives you a more dramatic and highly cinematic slow motion view from the water.

As the bass builds and starts to thump as we see the first waves from the channel: von Rupp, Florence, and Natxo Gonzalez all charging larger surf than many of us will ever see from the water. The first day was clearly the biggest but the funny thing is, for surfers like these, it wasn't even close to as large as they would have hoped.

As the swell died down (to well overhead and still pumping) the lads scored an all-time barrel fest and certainly kicked off what looks to be a promising big wave season for the Atlantic. We'll be sure to keep the good flowing as they hit the web and give more views onto what may the most memorable swell event for North America since Hurricane Marie.
