Ahead of his potentially final Roland Garros appearance, Rafael Nadal is ‘proud of the positive legacy’ he will leave at the tournament

Tennis fans eagerly anticipating Roland Garros were surprised to learn that Rafael Nadal would face Alexander Zverev in the first round. Returning from injury, the Spaniard has been relying on protective rankings to secure his place in the tournament’s main draw.

However, the ranking is still lower and there were always high chances for him to play one of the top seeds in the first round. And right on cue, the Spaniard got placed alongside Alexander Zverev, the 4th seed. Understandably, it is a super tough clash for the 37-year-old and the chances of it being his last match on his favorite tournament cannot be denied.

Looking ahead to his first-round match, Nadal had a lot to tell his fans. While looking at the possibility of it being his last match in the French Open, he is proud of the legacy he has built over the last decade and a half.

I know I have a super tough first round. One of the toughest possible but that's what happens when you are not seeded. Rafael Nadal said via Sky Sports

Rafa also revealed that he felt that his body was better than compared to his Rome outing. The Spaniard claimed he felt better in all aspects. With a high chance of it being his last match on tour, Nadal is sure to give it his all for one final time.

I want to be remembered, more or less, like a good person Rafael Nadal added

Alexander Zverev’s mindset heading into the exciting matchup against Rafael Nadal

German ace Alexander Zverev is all ready to take on the 14-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal on Monday. Nadal has not been in the best of forms recently, but the German revealed he will play the peak Nadal in his mind

In my mind, I'm going to play peak Rafa Nadal. That's what I expect him to be. I expect him to be at his absolute best.  Alexander Zverev said ahead of his first-round matchup

If Nadal manages to beat Zverev in the first round, he will continue on his road to yet another French Open title. With the road getting slightly easier in the latter rounds, Nadal fans would hope for a miracle against Zverev. Zverev has only beaten Nadal thrice in their ten encounters. While he has a huge physical advantage over Nadal, it’s a given the Spaniard will not go down easily.
