Chris Eubanks has responded to Nick Kyrgios’ recent comments after being snubbed from the BBC’s transmission for the Wimbledon 2025. The third Grand Slam of the year will begin on June 30. For the competition, it was reported that the local broadcaster decided early on to hire Kyrgios as part of the panel.
Kyrgios was available for the stint as he was already ruled out of the tournament after failing to recover from a knee injury sustained just days before the start of the French Open. However, the BBC decided to overturn their decision, according to a report by The Telegraph on June 10. It was claimed that the decision was made after the BBC received severe criticism for hiring Kyrgios, who in the recent past admitted to assaulting his girlfriend.
Kyrgios recently spoke to British media outlet The Guardian on June 21, expressing his disappointment about the development. The 30-year-old not only criticised the BBC for taking such a decision but also named a likely replacement for Eubanks, who will be on the panel.
"It’s unfortunate but it’s probably their loss more than mine,” he said. “I understand they’ve got Chris Eubanks, but he hasn’t beaten the greatest of all time multiple times. When someone’s beaten Federer, Nadal, Murray and Djokovic and has incredible insights, it’s very strange you wouldn’t want that person adding knowledge to tennis fans."
Now, Eubanks responded to Kyrgios’ comments in a hilarious post featuring famous actor Kevin Hart on his X account. Eubanks further clarified that he would not replace Kyrgios in the transmission and stated that his team had received no communication regarding any such offers.
"All jokes aside…. I will not be working with BBC at Wimbledon this year,” he wrote. “As far as I know, my team hasn’t even spoken to anyone from BBC so I’m not sure where that came from. That said, I’m incredibly excited to be back competing at SW 19.”
