Aryna Sabalenka is cruising through the Australian Open. She dominated Elina Svitolina 6-2, 6-3 in the semifinals and has made it to the final of the year's first Grand Slam for the fourth straight time.

The world No. 1 women’s tennis player is just a step away from clinching her third Australian Open title.

She is in the hunt for her second straight tournament title in Australia after winning the Brisbane International on Jan. 11. Apart from pursuing another title, Sabalenka is also seeking something special from her boyfriend, Georgios Frangulis.

Aryna Sabalenka Has Been Teasing Her Boyfriend About a Proposal for Months

After defeating Marta Kostyuk 6-4, 6-3 in the final of the Brisbane International, Sabalenka showed gratitude to her boyfriend by making a special request.

“Thank you to my boyfriend... Hopefully, soon I can call you something else. Let us put some extra pressure,” said Sabalenka

This statement indicated her desire to take their relationship to the next step and get married. The camera panned on Frangulis as she made the request, and he couldn't control the blushes.

It wasn’t the first time that Sabalenka talked about her feelings towards Frangulis in public. In the third round of the U.S. Open in August, Sabalenka defeated Leylah Fernandez 6-3, 7-6(2) at Louis Armstrong Stadium.

During the match, a couple got engaged, and Sabalenka couldn’t help but feel elated for them. She also signaled to her boyfriend that she wouldn’t mind such a proposal herself during the post-match

“I looked at my boyfriend. No pressure!” Sabalenka said.

Such public admissions make it clear that Sabalenka wants to tie the knot with Frangulis. The two were first seen together in April 2024, about a month after Sabalenka’s ex-boyfriend Konstantin Kolstov in an apparent suicide in Miami. Kolstov, a former professional hockey player, was 42 years old. He and Sabalenka were separated at the time of his death.

The Belarusian star credits Frangulis with supporting her during a tough phase in her life. Their feelings blossomed, and now Sabalenka has repeatedly expressed her desire to get engaged with him.

Frangulis, 38, is the founder and CEO of superfood brand Oakberry, which uses açaí from the Amazon rainforest for its products. He is often seen cheering for his girlfriend from the players box.

Sabalenka will face Elena Rybakina in the Australian Open final on Saturday at 3:30 a.m. ET on ESPN. As for any impending marriage proposal, the pressure is on.
