ATP Australian Open 1/8-Finals

Darderi – Sinner: 26.01.2026 08:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Luciano Darderi has won four of his last five matches. This week in Melbourne, Darderi defeated Garin in the opening round in straight sets. He trailed several times in that match, but turned it around. In the opening set tiebreak, Darderi was 3-5 down in the tiebreak, but turned it around. The Italian trailed 0-2 in the second set, but turned it around once again. In the second round, Baez put up a big fight against Darderi but fell short in four sets. The Italian was great on return, breaking the Argentinians’ serve six times. His most significant win happened in the third round against Khachanov. After fighting for almost four hours, Darderi defeated Khachanov in four tight sets.

Jannik Sinner has won four of his last five matches. Gaston retired in the opening round match against Sinner after being 0-2 down. In the second round, Sinner demolished Duckworth in straight sets. He offered and saved all four breakpoints. His toughest challenge happened in the third round, when he defeated Spizzirri in four tight sets, after losing the opening set 4-6. Sinner fought cramps due to the heat. The Italian is a back-to-back Australian Open champion, winning consecutive titles in 2024 and 2025.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Sinner is the favourite in this matchup, and we agree. Besides having problems yesterday against Spizzirri because of the heat, Sinner was the most dominant player this week in Melbourne. Darderi has no weapons against Sinner, so we expect Sinner to win easily and reach the quarterfinals.

That being said, Sinner covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Jannik Sinner -8.5 games handicap @1.73 @bet365

Musetti – Fritz: 26.01.2026 04:00 CEST
H2H: 3-3

Lorenzo Musetti has won four of his last five matches. This week in Melbourne, Collignon retired mid-match against Musetti in the opening round. The Italian defeated Sonego in the second round in straight sets. He trailed 3-4 in the third set with a break down, but turned it around. In the third round, the Italian defeated Machac in five tight sets after playing for almost five hours. In the fifth deciding set, Musetti offered and saved all three breakpoints. Last season at the Australian Open, the Italian lost to Shelton in the third round in four tight sets.

Taylor Fritz has won three of his last five matches. Fritz won against Royer in four sets in the opening round this week at the Australian Open. The American defeated Kopriva in the second round in straight sets. In the third round, Fritz defeated Wawrinka in four tight sets. Last season in Melbourne, Fritz lost to Monfils in four sets in the third round. He has never made it past the quarterfinals here.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Fritz is the slight favourite in this matchup, and we agree. Musetti had a five-set thriller against Machac, with many intense rallies, and was exhausted coming into this match. Last season in Turin, Fritz defeated Musetti in straight sets easily.

That being said, Fritz winning is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Taylor Fritz winning @1.73 @bet365
