The indoor season continues in Brussels as players keep adjusting to the quicker European courts. Former champion Felix Auger-Aliassime will be in action against dark horse Damir Dzumhur, amongst several other matches. As usual, we at LWOT will provide predictions for each encounter, making sure you catch every moment of the competition. But which players will advance?

ATP Brussels Day 4 Predictions

Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Damir Dzumhur

Head–to–Head: Auger-Aliassime 1 – 0 Dzumhur

Damir Dzumhur wasn’t at his peak performance but managed to fight his way past 18-year-old Federico Cina in the opening round of the European Open.

Next, he will face Felix Auger-Aliassime, who made his comeback to the tour following a month off in Shanghai. The Canadian reached the quarter-finals in Cincinnati and the semi-finals of the US Open and now returns to a tournament he won in 2022.

Auger-Aliassime already has a title on indoor hard courts in Montpellier this season and won their only previous encounter also on this surface. He will win this.

Prediction: Auger-Aliassime in 2

Nikoloz Basilashvili vs Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard

Head–to–Head:  First Meeting

Nikoloz Basilashvili didn’t face any break of serve as he advanced in Brussels over Quentin Halys in straight sets.

Next, he will face Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, who fired an impressive 39 aces to overcome Emil Ruusouvori in three sets. Although this season hasn’t been great for Mpetshi Perricard, his recent performances indicate improvement, having reached the round of 16 in Shanghai last week, including a win against world number four Taylor Fritz.

This will mark their first encounter on the ATP Tour, but they previously met earlier this season on the Challenger Tour, where Mpetshi Perricard won the Bordeaux final. Mpetshi Perricard’s serve remains a huge advantage indoors, and while it could very well determine the outcome of this match, the Georgian may well have an antidote to it as he did against Halys.

Prediction: Basilashvili in 3

Botic van de Zandschulp vs Eliot Spizzirri

Head–to–Head: First Meeting

Botic van de Zandschulp fought his way past Joao Fonseca to secure his first victory in five matches. The Dutch player fell behind in both sets but upped his game towards the end of both sets to claim a 7-5 7-6 win.

He will next face American Eliot Spizzirri who had a relatively easy first-round match, dominating Pedro Martinez 6-4 6-1.

Van de Zandschulp will take several positives from his match against Fonseca, but he faces a difficult challenge, especially if Spizzirri can replicate his first-round performance. Still, the Dutchman should win this.

Prediction: Van de Zandschulp.

Lorenzo Musetti vs Yannick Hanfmann

Head–to–Head: Musetti 2 – 1 Hanfmann

Lorenzo Musetti struggled to achieve a breakthrough during the Asian leg of the tour, despite reaching the final in Chengdu, where he lost to Alejandro Tabilo. Following that, he retired from his quarter-final match against Learner Tien in Beijing before suffering a straight-sets defeat to Felix Auger-Aliassime in Shanghai.

Yannick Hanfmann continued his rise as he defeated Matteo Arnaldi in three sets to secure a spot in the last 16 of the European Open. The German appeared to be in trouble after Arnaldi broke to lead 3-2 in the second, but Hanfmann broke back promptly to level the match and ultimately win.

Musetti has a 2-1 advantage in their head-to-head encounters, but all of their matches have taken place on clay. Although Hanfmann is riding high on momentum from his recent victories, Musetti will be eager to make a significant impact in Brussels with the Tour Finals in focus.

Prediction: Musetti in 3.
