The 2025 edition of the ATP Chengdu Open is into its final day. The championship match sees top seed Lorenzo Musetti taking on qualifier Alejandro Tabilo. As ever, we preview and predict the final match for you.
Head-to-head – First Meeting
Lorenzo Musetti has looked like the top man this week justifying his top seed ranking here. The Italian looked in prime form in the semifinal match that he won 6-3 6-1. He didn’t drop his serve even once and posted amazing numbers on his first serve. Musetti is without a title this year and maybe this is the day he changes that statistic.
His opponent is a surprising one. Alejandro Tabilo showed little signs of this kind of form. He did reach the finals at the Challenger event last week but to step it up like this after coming through qualifying is highly commendable. The Chilean took out the fourth seed Brandon Nakashima in a match that was dominated by Tabilo serving 11 aces en route to the victory.
These two have never played each other before, and for Tabilo to continue his dream run and win a third title overall, he would need to stay aggressive from the very beginning. Musetti has himself started to be more aggressive in the recent times and has transitioned really well into it. Expect a good battle between the two and Tabilo may make things interesting for a while but Musetti should be able to counter anything that Tabilo throws his way.
Prediction: Musetti in 2
