ATP Cincinnati Day 3 Predictions Including Taylor Fritz vs Emilio Nava

Taylor Fritz will try to shake off the disappointment of losing in the National Bank Open semifinal on Day 3 in Cincinnati. Last year’s US Open runner-up starts his campaign against fellow American Emilio Nava. We here at LWOT predict all the matches scheduled in our articles, including Jannik Sinner vs Daniel Elahi Galan and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Joao Fonseca.

ATP Cincinnati Day 3 Predictions

Alex Michelsen vs Corentin Moutet

Head-to-head: Moutet 1-0 Michelsen

This promises to be a significant test for Michelsen—Moutet’s playing style suits disrupting powerful opponents, even on faster courts. The Americans’ powerful serve will be pivotal because of Moutet’s ability to soak up pressure in the rallies. I feel the Frenchman can defeat his seeded opponent and silence the home fans.

Prediction: Moutet in 3

Tomac Machac vs Adrian Mannarino

Head-to-head: Mannarino 1-0 Machac

Mannarino has been excellent since qualifying, winning six consecutive sets without any issues. The Frenchman has enjoyed the moderately fast conditions, which suit his unconventional playing style. Machac lost heavily to Mannarino in Indian Wells last year, but the 37-year-old veteran has declined since. Machac’s best tennis will be good enough to win if he can find it often enough.

Prediction: Machac in 3

Lorenzo Sonego vs Zizou Bergs

Head-to-head: First meeting

Bergs won his first match of the North American swing in the opening round against a below-par Jacob Fearnley. I doubt the Belgian will be as successful against Sonego. While Bergs is talented, nothing in his game can overwhelm the 31st seed. Sonego possesses slightly more quality in all departments. Bergs needs to play at his best and hope Sonego produces an underwhelming performance.

Prediction: Sonego in 2

Taylor Fritz vs Emilio Nava

Head-to-head: Fritz 1-0 Nava

Nava played superbly against Borna Coric in the opening round. The 23-year-old did not face a break point and looked in control throughout the contest. He will need to serve as well against Fritz since he is unlikely to get the same number of chances on return. It seems doubtful that a player of Fritz’s class will go the whole match without having opportunities. The more consistent pressure to hold serve could wear Nava down.

Prediction: Fritz in 2
