Susan Mullane-USA TODAY Sports

Today, qualifying of the ATP 250 event in Napoli was supposed to start but it had to be postponed due to insufficient quality of the courts.

Likes of Matteo Berrettini, Pablo Carreno Busta and Roberto Bautista Agut signed up for the 2022 Napoli Cup as world no. 107, Nicolas Jarry is the highest-seeded player in a qualifying draw that was supposed to start on Saturday.

However, many players complained about the court quality, that was really insufficient for an ATP 250 event that offers $612,000 in prize money and will welcome players that used to be part of Top 10 of the ATP Rankings. The tournament organizers were awared of the situation as they soon released a statement that reads:

"Due to problems related to the material used to build courts by a company, world leader of the industry, therefore for reasons independent from the organization, it has become necessary to postpone the tournament qualification matches scheduled for today and tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday, to allow the necessary interventions for recovery of the agility of the courts," statement reads.

"For this reason the qualifying matches will not take place on the tennis club Naples courts. The tournament will start as usual on Monday with the main scoreboard. Tickets sold for today and tomorrow can be refunded or rescheduled for Monday, at the choice of the customer, for the day or evening session. We apologize for the inconvenience."
