There will be no shortage of big serves and thunderbolt winners on Tuesday at the ATP Geneva Open. Ben Shelton, Christopher Eubanks, and Denis Shapovalov will be in action at the last tournament stop before Roland Garros. So, who will advance?

ATP Geneva Day 3 Predictions

David Goffin vs Nicolas Moreno De Alboran

Head-to-head: Moreno De Alboran 1-0 Goffin

This is a battle between two qualifiers. Goffin and Moreno De Alboran will clash again at this year’s clay-court swing. Their first meeting was during the ATP’s pitstop on the African content in Morocco. The American toppled the Belgian 6-3 6-4. However, both players took contrasting routes to reach the main draw in Geneva. Goffin dropped a combined five games in two matches. Moreno De Alboran, for his part, battled back from a 2-5 deficit in the third set in his first qualifying match last weekend. Although Goffin is past his peak, he has shown flashes of brilliance on the surface at this tournament, which tips this matchup in his favor.
Prediction: Goffin in 2

Emil Ruusuvuori vs Alexander Shevchenko

Head-to-head: first meeting

Emil Ruusuvuroi got his revenge win over Marcos Giron in the first round. It was an assured performance from the Finn, who converted four of 11 break points in a straight-sets victory. Alexander Shevchenko was equally impressive in dismissing Fabian Morzsan for the second time in as many weeks. The Kazakh is more than capable of matching Ruusuvuori’s aggressive brand of tennis from the baseline. He also possesses a pacey serve. But it is his ability to absorb and deflect Ruusuvuori’s power that will make a difference in this one.
Prediction: Shevchenko in 3

Denis Shapovalov vs Federico Coria

Head-to-head: first meeting

Shapovalov accepted a late wild card into Geneva. The Canadian knows full well that his chances of an early exit at Roland Garros are extremely high because he will be unseeded. After a first-round defeat in Rome, it makes sense that he will seek additional court time before the clay Grand Slam. This will be a good test for him against an experienced clay-court specialist. The surface plays to Shapovalov’s liking, so he should overpower Coria.
Prediction: Shapovalov in 2
