ATP Geneva Quarterfinal Predictions Including Sebastian Baez vs Casper Ruud

Day 5 at the ATP 250 event in Geneva promises to present some very exciting quarterfinal matches. Despite being played the week before Roland Garros, Geneva has a very strong field, which even features both finalists of last year’s French Open in Casper Ruud and Novak Djokovic, who are looking to gain some momentum for Paris after disappointing performances in Madrid and Rome. Djokovic’s quarterfinal matchup is not yet set, as the second-round match between Denis Shapovalov and Tallon Griekspoor was suspended due to rain. We will edit in the final quarterfinal matchup once it’s set.

ATP Geneva Quarterfinal Predictions

Alex Michelsen vs Tomas Machac

Head-to-head: first meeting

Michelsen is one of the most promising young players on tour, but clay isn’t really his surface, at least judging by what he has shown so far. The same is true for Machac, who is not at his most comfortable on clay, but he is generally the more solid and experienced player at the moment and should have a bit of an edge here, especially with Michelsen fresh off a massive win against Taylor Fritz.
Prediction: Machac in 3

Alexander Shevchenko vs Flavio Cobolli

Head-to-head: first meeting

The two players are at a very similar level and neither has been playing particularly well in this clay season, so this is an amazing chance for both of them to have a really deep run and maybe even aim for the title on the weekend. On a hard court, Shevchenko would have a slight edge, but on clay perhaps that slight edge goes Cobolli’s way.
Prediction: Cobolli in 3

Sebastian Baez vs Casper Ruud

Head-to-head: Ruud 2-0 Baez

Ruud is a specialist at this tournament, with titles in 2021 and 2022 and a quartefrinal last year where he narrowly lost to eventual champion Nicolás Jarry. He tends to then translate that good to Roland Garros, where he reached the last two finals. This is Ruud’s best part of the season and as good as Baez is on clay previous matchups have showed that he really struggles against Ruud.
Prediction: Ruud in 2
