ATP Lyon Quarterfinal Predictions Including Alexander Bublik vs Pavel Kotov

This Friday at the ATP 250 event in Lyon will see all four quarterfinal matches being played. While the field is expectedly devoid of top 10 players in the week before Roland Garros, it has been a very interesting tournament so far and it should remain like that going into the final weekend, with all these players believing in their chance to win a rare or even maiden title at ATP level.

ATP Lyon Quarterfinal Predictions

Dominik Koepfer vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry

Head-to-head: first meeting

Koepfer had a very bad streak, but then had a nice run in Rome and is now playing quite well here in Lyon. That said, Etcheverry has proved to be a really good player on clay, where he reached the quarterfinals at Roland Garros last year. Given the surface, the Argentine should have the edge and a real chance to win the tournament too.
Prediction: Etcheverry in 2

Luciano Darderi vs Arthur Rinderknech

Head-to-head: first meeting

Darderi has been playing at a really good level on clay this season, mostly losing to much higher ranked player, and here he has a realistic chance to even aim for the title. Rinderknech is a solid player, but he is not at his best on clay despite two very good wins so far here in Lyon. Darderi should have the edge here and make the semis.
Prediction: Darderi in 2

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard vs Hugo Gaston

Head-to-head: first meeting

The duel between these two countrymen should be very interesting and tight. Gaston showed a lot of promise some years ago, but has failed to deliver on it thus far, while Mpetshi Perricard is just now ascending and proving that he has the ability to establish himself at least as a consistent ATP level player. On current form, the latter should have the slight edge.
Prediction: Mpetshi Perricard in 3

Alexander Bublik vs Pavel Kotov

Head-to-head: Bublik 1-0 Kotov

Bublik is currently the highest ranked player left in the draw, but he’s an extreme loose cannon and clay is far from his best surface. Kotov has been playing well this week and overall he is the more solid and consistent player. It’s a very difficult match to call as Bublik is capable of reaching very high levels on a good day, but Kotov should have the slight edge going in.
Prediction: Kotov in 3
