As the ATP season nears its close, the Paris Masters provides one final test of endurance and adaptability before the year-end championships. This year, however, the indoor courts are playing slower than usual, placing greater emphasis on point construction and rally tolerance rather than outright first-strike aggression. The change has rewarded players with patience, variety, and defensive resilience, creating an intriguing mix of styles heading into the ound of 16. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the schedule. But who will advance?

ATP Paris Day 4 Predictions

Ben Shelton vs Andrey Rublev

Head-to-Head: Shelton 1–0 Rublev

Rublev has finally halted his five-match losing streak with two morale-boosting wins this week, rediscovering some of the confidence that had deserted him in recent months. His forehand has regained its depth and pace, and his temperament looks steadier than it did during his slump. Shelton, meanwhile, is still working his way back to full rhythm after the injury that sidelined him since the US Open, though his serve remains a major weapon. In these slower conditions, Rublev’s heavier groundstrokes and superior rally consistency could prove decisive.
Prediction: Rublev in 3

Daniil Medvedev vs Lorenzo Sonego

Head-to-Head: Medvedev 3–0 Sonego

Medvedev’s tactical discipline and patience are tailor-made for slower indoor courts, allowing him to absorb pressure and wait for openings. Sonego’s flair and shot variety can trouble anyone on his day, but the Italian often struggles to penetrate opponents who give him no pace to work with. Medvedev’s flat groundstrokes and ability to redirect play with precision should consistently keep Sonego on the defensive. Unless the Italian produces something special, Medvedev’s steadiness looks too strong.
Prediction: Medvedev in 2

Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Daniel Altmaier

Head-to-Head: Altmaier 2–1 Auger-Aliassime

Auger-Aliassime looked in a bit of trouble after dropping the first set against Alexandre Muller, marking the second straight match in Paris where he’s needed three sets. His serve remains a weapon, but his level has fluctuated under pressure. Altmaier, by contrast, has enjoyed a smoother run, dispatching Casper Ruud and Marcos Giron in straight sets while striking the ball cleanly from the baseline. The German also leads their head-to-head 2–1, and if he maintains his recent form, his steadier rhythm and patience on these slower courts could tip the balance.
Prediction: Altmaier in 3

Alexander Zverev vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina

Head-to-Head: Zverev 5–1 Davidovich Fokina

Zverev has navigated the conditions well, using his serve to build points and his backhand to control direction and pace. Davidovich Fokina brings variety and unpredictability, but the slower surface makes it harder for him to hit through the court consistently. Zverev’s balance between aggression and defense should frustrate the Spaniard, forcing him into errors as rallies drag on. The German’s composure under pressure gives him the upper hand in what could be a physical contest.
Prediction: Zverev in 2
