Felix Auger-Aliassime finished the year on a high, reaching the semi-finals of the ATP Finals – a career first.
While he fell short against Carlos Alcaraz, who spoke highly of him after their match, there were plenty of positives for Auger-Aliassime to take from the back half of his season.
His run included a US Open semi-final appearance in September, where he took down Alexander Zverev, followed by a strong showing through the Asian and indoor circuits that helped him secure a spot in Turin.
He put together an impressive number of wins throughout 2025, and after finishing strongly, he will be eager to get going again when play resumes in January.
Auger-Aliassime’s rise up the rankings has been one of the stories of the year, and his strong run through the second half of the season has helped him climb into the top five by year’s end.
It is a big step forward for him, and he will now be aiming to not just hold on to that spot but also push even higher into the top four.
The player most affected by Auger-Aliassime’s rise is Ben Shelton, who struggled with injury issues and did not have much impact at the ATP Finals.
| Rank | Player | Ranking to end 2024 |
| 1 | Carlos Alcaraz | 3 |
| 2 | Jannik Sinner | 1 |
| 3 | Alexander Zverev | 2 |
| 4 | Novak Djokovic | 7 |
| 5 | Felix Auger-Aliassime | 29 |
| 6 | Taylor Fritz | 4 |
| 7 | Alex de Minaur | 9 |
| 8 | Lorenzo Musetti | 17 |
| 9 | Ben Shelton | 21 |
| 10 | Jack Draper | 15 |
The current rankings reflect a clear picture at the top, with Alcaraz and Sinner standing out as the leading pair, followed by Zverev and Djokovic.
Auger-Aliassime is proving he belongs among that group. The next step in 2026 will be to make deeper runs at Grand Slams and earn another spot at the season-ending Finals.
What is interesting about the current rankings is how many top-10 players have not had standout seasons, with some dealing with injuries or inconsistent form.
Zverev made it to the Australian Open final but has not built on that result, while Djokovic has stayed near the top despite playing a more selective schedule.
| Rank | Player | Rank to end 2024 |
| 12 | Casper Ruud | 6 |
| 13 | Daniil Medvedev | 5 |
| 16 | Andrey Rublev | 8 |
| 44 | Grigor Dimitrov | 10 |
Draper managed to remain inside the top 10 even though he wrapped up his season early in September, and as a result, four players from last year’s list have fallen out.
Even though Alcaraz and Sinner continue to share most of the silverware, there is a feeling that competition is picking up again. It will be interesting to see if those four can fight their way back into contention next year.
