As the French Open honored Rafael Nadal, the ATP Tour also made sure to recognize the tennis icon and what he has done for the game.
Nadal made an appearance at the Court Philippe-Chatrier on Sunday, as Roland-Garros paid tribute to his legendary career. It's worth noting that he won 14 French Open titles and finished with a 112-4 record in matches played in the Grand Slam competition.
The Spanish legend, who retired in November 2024, was honored with a silver plaque—placed near the net post at the Chatrier—featuring his footprint. His biggest rivals, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Andy Murray, also came to join the celebration.
Following the event, Nadal took to Instagram to thank the French Open and the tournament organizers, noting that he "will never forget this amazing day!"
Nadal also shared several photos taken from the event, showing himself getting emotional while the Roland-Garros crowd cheered for him.
Interestingly, the ATP Tour—the governing body of men's professional tennis—commented on Rafael Nadal's post with a strong message acknowledging his incredible career.
"The most incredible journey, congratulations for all of it Rafa," the ATP Tour wrote, along with a red heart emoji.
Several others commented on Rafael Nadal's post, including the official Instagram account of the Australian Open. It wrote, "Iconic," to heap praise on him.
Roland-Garros' Instagram didn't use words, instead posting an orange heart emoji to show its love for Nadal.
It remains to be seen what's next in Nadal's career, but his legacy as a tennis great is certainly cemented.
