In the second round, Medvedev had an easy job against Wu. After playing for a short while, over an hour, he demolished Wu in straight sets. He offered no breakpoints.

Corentin Moutet has won three of his last five matches. This week in Washington, Moutet failed to qualify for the main draw tournament. In the final qualifying round, Moutet lost against Wu in three tight sets. However, with several players withdrawing from the tournament, he entered the main draw as a lucky loser. The Frenchman demolished Muller in the opening round 6-0, 6-1 within an hour.  In the second round, Moutet won against Evans in straight sets. After losing his serve twice in the second set, he kept his composure and still won. He hopes for a solid result this week to secure a spot in the top 50 rankings.
