It’s been ten years since men’s tennis last saw this level of sheer dominance. In 2025, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner joined a rarefied company, both surpassing 30 sets won by 6-0 or 6-1 in a single season, a feat last achieved in 2015 by Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.
Alcaraz leads the charge with 34 crushing sets, while Sinner follows close behind on 31, with Sinner having beaten Francisco Cerundolo 7-5 6-1, marking a return of the kind of ruthless baseline supremacy that defined the peak Djokovic–Murray era. Back then, Djokovic recorded a jaw-dropping 45 such sets, with Murray at 30, reflecting a season of relentless control from the baseline and total command over opponents.
A decade later, Alcaraz and Sinner are doing it their way with power, precision, and a generational shift in style. Alcaraz’s explosive forehands and all-court swagger have made him the most feared front-runner in the sport, while Sinner’s laser-flat hitting and mechanical efficiency have turned him into a quiet executioner.
Their dominance isn’t just statistical, it’s psychological. Bagels (6-0) and breadsticks (6-1) are the ultimate markers of intimidation, and both players have made them a habit in 2025. Together, they’ve turned the ATP Tour into a two-man demolition derby, having shared the Majors between them this season, reviving memories of when Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic were among the handful of players who imposed an iron grip on men’s tennis.
There are, of course, some challengers. Joao Fonseca won his second tour-level title of the season in Basel, whilst the likes of Jack Draper and Ben Shelton have the power of the ground to cause Alcaraz and Sinner problems. Novak Djokovic, meanwhile, may not be the force he once was but the Serbian is not a 24-time Grand Slam champion. But as it stands, Alcaraz and Sinner are indisputably the best in the business as it stands.
With both still chasing the year-end #1, this generation’s best can still take the obliteration to another level.
