Carlos Alcaraz Beats Novak Djokovic As Most Searched Tennis Player In 2023

Carlos Alcaraz drew a lot of interest this year with his amazing performances, so much so that he actually eclipsed Novak Djokovic in the most searched athletes list.

Carlos Alcaraz has been a known name for over a year now because he won the US Open last year, which certainly helped. This year, however, he expanded his Grand Slam tally by beating Djokovic at Wimbledon , which in itself is a huge deal.

Think of the importance Wimbledon carries in the tennis world, and you'll quickly realize why Alcaraz might have been the most searched tennis player all year. He's also a new player who carries a lot of new excitement as opposed to Djokovic, who has been here for years.

The most searched athlete in the world was obviously Cristiano Ronaldo, who is far above anybody else. Neymar came in second, with Lionel Messi coming in third, and that's not a huge surprise. Football is by far the most popular sport worldwide, and those are some of the biggest names in that sport.

Regarding tennis, Alcaraz is actually the top name, with 60 million searches, placing 7th overall with 3 million searches less than football's Kylian Mbappe. He's two million searches ahead of Novak Djokovic, who placed 8th with 58.4 million searches, and they are the only tennis players in the Top 10.

The list itself makes sense, but even the inclusion of these two is a very good sign for tennis, which rarely ranks among the most popular sports in the world. On the women's side, the list includes Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, and Emma Raudcanu, who were the most searched tennis players.

Swiatek was number one for much of the year. Gauff is the rising star in tennis, while people are seemingly still obsessed with Emma Raducanu. We have barely seen her on a tennis court in the past year, but she's still talked about.
