Carlos Alcaraz may not have played the Shanghai Masters, but the world No. 1 is still adding to his list of achievements.

Alcaraz made the right call in choosing to miss Shanghai after picking up a knock during his title run at the Japan Open.

The world No. 1 will be back on court at the Six Kings Slam, where he’ll line up alongside Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Taylor Fritz and Alexander Zverev.

And before heading to Saudi Arabia for that event, Alcaraz has already added another milestone by breaking an Andy Murray record.

Alcaraz clocks up 42 weeks at world No. 1

Alcaraz moved past Jannik Sinner in the rankings after beating him in four sets at the U.S. Open final. Across his two stints at the top, Alcaraz has now spent a total of 42 weeks as World No. 1.

That’s one week longer than Andy Murray managed during his time at the top, which spanned from 2016 to 2017.

The Spaniard has also surpassed other big names like Boris Becker, Mats Wilander, and Andy Roddick in terms of time spent at No. 1.

With Sinner pulling out of the Shanghai Masters, Alcaraz looks set to hold onto the top spot heading into the new season.

Carlos Alcaraz’s schedule at the Six Kings Slam

Alcaraz is looking to win his first Six Kings Slam after losing in the final to Sinner at the inaugural event in 2024.

Both Alcaraz and Djokovic have been given byes into the semi-finals of this year’s event, thanks to their Grand Slam records.

The Spaniard will play either Zverev or Fritz for a place in the final, with $6 million up for grabs. Djokovic faces either Sinner or Tsitsipas as he tries to put his Shanghai Masters loss behind him.
