It was not only Trinity Rodman who had something to celebrate on Sunday. On the same day, her boyfriend and tennis star Ben Shelton also reached a personal milestone that had fans congratulating him.

After Rodman led the Washington Spirit to a thrilling victory in the NWSL, Shelton followed it up with an exhilarating performance of his own at the National Bank Open (more popularly known as the Canadian Open).

Shelton Achieves Personal Milestone in ATP Tour

Shelton played Italian star Flavio Cobolli in the Round of 16 of the National Bank Open on Sunday and survived a heated third set to book his spot in the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000 tournament.

The 22-year-old American won the first set but lost the second, setting the stage for a deciding third set. However, Shelton found himself trailing 4-2 before rallying back and forcing a tiebreaker.

In the end, Shelton came out on top, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (1).

The victory marked Shelton's 100th win at the tour level, a significant achievement for the former Florida Gators player who only turned pro in 2022.

Fans React to Shelton's Win

Following his sensational victory, Ben Shelton's girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, reacted to his performance and wrote on her Instagram Stories, "Clutch day I guess."

Several other fans took to social media to congratulate Shelton for reaching the milestone just over three years into his pro career.

"Ben Shelton is that guy," a fan wrote. Another one excitedly said, "Ben Shelton went pro August of 2022. 100 tour level wins in three years is an impressive feat for the @GatorsMTN National Champion."

"100 wins," a commenter wrote, along with a fire emoji.

"Congratulations to Ben!! Great match," a follower added.

A fifth poster remarked, "Congratulations Ben!!! The best is yet to come!!"

"Now I can really start to believe that Ben Shelton is ready for interesting things on the Tour. He had a tough time with Cobolli but managed to pull through. Like it or not, his tennis is necessary, and even more so if he’s fighting for titles. Nice way to reach ATP victory No. 100," a viewer stated.

Shelton, who is the fourth seed in the competition, will face No. 9 seed and current world No. 8 Alex de Minaur in the quarterfinal on Tuesday.
