Following the first-round exit at the US Open 2025, Daniil Medvedev parted ways with Gilles Cervara, who was his coach for eight years. For the Rolex Shanghai Masters tournament, he appointed Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke as his new coaching personnel.

Ahead of the inauguration of the Almaty International Tennis Complex, Daniil Medvedev spoke about working with new coaches. The star player claimed that there is no need for him to work on his game. However, he felt the need to work on executing his skills better.

"I think my game is complete enough, but it needs a lot of small details to add here and there and that's what we're looking for. It's everything: forehand, backhand, volley, serve. It's already good enough because I was number one, but small details needs to be improved," said Medvedev.

Daniil Medvedev hopeful of having a good partnership

The US Open 2025 winner felt the more time he gets to spend with his new coaches would lead to better understanding of each other and hoped it would improve his game in the upcoming days.

"It's just a start. We made good results in China for sure. When you start playing better, you want to do more, and I know how to do more, but it's a step by step process for sure. It's not also easy to judge because there are tournaments, so we had like a week in Monaco and then it's tournament after tournament. There is no time to really do something big, but so far it has been working well, so we'll see how it goes later," Medvedev added.
