Italy – Austria: 19.11.2025 16:00 CEST
H2H: 5-1
Cobolli – Rodionov
H2H: first meeting
Flavio Cobolli has lost three of his last five matches. The last match he played was in Metz, where he lost his opening match to Sonego in three tight sets. The Italian had a solid result and has now almost entered the top 20 in the rankings. His last Davis Cup match was last season against the Netherlands, where he defeated Griekspoor in three tight sets.
Jurij Rodionov has won three of his last five matches. The last match he played was in Taiwan at the Challenger Tour level, where Imamura upset him in the second round in straight sets. The Austrian struggled with his form this season and is now on the verge of losing his top-200 status. Rodionov spent most of the season playing at the Challenger Tour level. His last Davis Cup appearance was in September, where he defeated both Fucsovics and Marozsan.
Cobolli is in solid form and had a great season. On the other hand, Rodionov spent most of the season at the Challenger Tour level. We expect Cobolli to dominate and secure Italy’s first win easily.
Sonego – Misolic
H2H: first meeting
Lorenzo Sonego has won three of his last five matches. The last match he played was in Metz, where he had a decent run. He was eventually stopped by Norrie in the semifinals, losing in three tight sets. His last Davis Cup appearance was two years ago, where he helped Italy in the doubles competition.
Filip Misolic has lost four of his last five matches. The last match he played was in Athens, where he failed to qualify for the main draw tournament, losing to Molcan in the opening qualifying round. This will be his third appearance for Austria in the Davis Cup. At the beginning of the season, the Austrian defeated Vasa in straight sets.
Sonego is overall a better hard-court player than Misolic. He played his best tennis in Metz, and we expect his Davis Cup experience to carry over in this matchup and secure Italy’s second win.
Vavassori/Bolelli – Erler/Miedler
Vavassori and Bolelli are both top 20 doubles players. Last week at the ATP Nitto Finals, the Italians made it past the group stage. However, they were stopped in the semifinals by Heliovaara and Patten in straight sets. They are one of the most experienced doubles players in the Davis Cup this season.
Erler and Miedler are both solid doubles players. They have not played many matches together this season. In the qualifiers against Hungary, Erler and Miedler lost to Marozsan and Piros in straight sets.
According to the bookies, Italy is the heavy favourite in this matchup, and we agree. They are defending champions and have better singles and doubles players than Austria. We expect them to dominate in front of their home crowd. Austria will struggle in every match.
That being said, Italy winning is a value bet.
