Davis Cup semifinals

Spain – Germany: 22.11.2025 12:00 CEST
H2H: 7-10

First potential matchup:

Carreno-Busta – Struff
H2H: 3-1

Pablo Carreno-Busta has won three of his last five matches. The last match he played before the Davis Cup was at the Challenger Tournament in Olbia, where he had a decent run, reaching the final. Van Assche eventually stopped him in the final in three tight sets. The Spaniard is one of the most experienced players in the Davis Cup this week. This week in Turin, Carreno-Busta lost to Mensik in tight straight sets. The Spaniard was up in the opening set, but he fumbled under pressure. He spent most of this season playing on the Challenger Tour.

Jan-Lennard Struff has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Lyon, the German prepared for the Davis Cup by playing in the Challenger tournament on an indoor hard court. He won the tournament, defeating Broady in the final in straight sets. So far this season, Struff has had his best results on hard courts. This week in Turin, Struff lost to Etcheverry in straight sets. He was 4-2 up in the opening set, but fumbled under pressure.

Carreno-Busta played well against Mensik, who is a great hard-court player. On the other hand, Struff struggled in the opening match against Etcheverry. He leads 3-1 in head-to-head meetings against Struff. We expect the Spaniard to handle the pressure better and get the opening win for Spain.

Second potential matchup:

Zverev – Munar
H2H: 1-1

Alexander Zverev has lost three of his last five matches. The last tournament he played before the Davis Cup was in the ATP Nitto finals. He defeated Shelton in the group stage, but lost to Sinner and Auger-Aliassime in straight sets, which did not qualify him for the semifinals. This week in Turin, the German defeated Cerundolo in straight sets. He served well, not offering any breakpoints.

Jaume Munar has won three of his last five matches. The last match he played before the Davis Cup was in Paris, where he lost to Medvedev in the opening match in straight sets. A week before, Munar lost to Fonseca in the semifinals in Basel. The Spaniard has been consistent this season, so he cemented his top 50 status in the rankings. This week in Turin, Munar upset Lehecka and helped Spain qualify for the semifinals.

Zverev is a way better indoor-hard court player than Munar. We expect him to dominate on his serve once again and get the opening win for Germany.

Third potential matchup:

Krawietz/Puetz – Granollers/Martinez

The Germans are one of the most experienced doubles players this week in Turin. Against Argentina, Krawietz and Puetz defeated Molteni and Zeballos in three tight sets, securing the deciding win for Germany after losing the opening set 4-6.

Granollers and Martinez helped Spain qualify for the semifinals by defeating Machac and Mensik in two tiebreaks.

Krawietz and Puetz are more experienced and have better chemistry. We expect them to handle the pressure better from the Spaniards and get the deciding win for Germany.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Germany is the favourite in this matchup, and we agree. Zverev is by far the best player in this clash, and we expect him to get the opening win. Either Struff or Krawietz/Puetz will get the second win for Germany.

That being said, Germany winning is a value bet.
