Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori secured their spot in the US Open Mixed Doubles final with a commanding 4-2, 4-2 victory over the locals Danielle Collins and Christian Harrison. The defending champions will go for the top prize in the final match of the day against Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud, who earlier eliminated Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper.
Jasmine Paolini was present, supporting her compatriots, especially Errani, her usual doubles partner, with whom she won the Roland Garros title a couple of months ago and the Olympic gold medal at Paris 2024. Also seen in the crowd was former world No. 1 Andy Roddick, supporting his compatriots Harrison and Collins.

Harrison, perhaps the most unknown name in the mixed doubles draw—although a regular doubles player, currently ranked world No. 17, his best historical ranking, with two ATP 500 titles as a doubles player, both alongside Evan King—started with the service. The American, however, struggled with his serve at the beginning, and the Italians quickly started with a break advantage.
Vavassori's experience came to the fore as he took his first service game without problems, just like Collins and Errani, who respectively defended their service games without facing any break points. With the score at 3-1 in favor of the Europeans, Harrison's serving problems returned, but he ended up saving two set points against him. It was of little use, as Vavassori was then impeccable with his serve to secure the set 4-2 after 20 minutes, in which they had only conceded two points on their serve.
At the start of the second set, the problems were again with Harrison, who managed to get through a break point against him, just like Vavassori, who for the first time faced difficulties on his serve but saved a break point against him.
With the score at 1-1, the problems this time were for Danielle Collins, who could barely get her first serve into play and watched as the Italians got a break to love. However, Collins took the initiative in the next game, and they managed to break Errani's serve to level the score at 2-2 again.
However, the Italian duo showed their good teamwork and excellent chemistry, having played together for a couple of years previously. They managed to—for the third time in the match—break Harrison's serve, and in the closing stage, Vavassori was the main figure to secure the victory without setbacks by 4-2, 4-2 and advance to the final.
