'Don’t know how many cards I have left,' Novak Djokovic drops retirement hints after questions rush about LA Olympics 2028

Djokovic, who will be playing at the summer Paris Olympics has also not ruled out competing at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. The Serbian has managed only a bronze in his last four Olympics.

Djokovic said at a press conference ahead of the Indian Wells tournament:

Everything is on the cards, I just don’t know how many cards I have left. Let's see. It’s still very far. The thought of it excites me. Of course, I would love to play that. But… I can’t really commit to it yet. Novak Djokovic said

He added:

I think I will take it year by year to see how my body serves me, how passionate, committed, and motivated I am to do what I have been doing for most of my life. It's getting harder and harder, but I still love this sport and still compete at the highest level. Novak Djokovic added

Djokovic is yet to win a title this season. The Serbian was the favorite to win the Australian Open in January, but eventually fell to the champion Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals. He will be hoping to win the Indian Wells title.

Novak Djokovic happy to be back in Indian Wells

Novak Djokovic has revealed that he is happy to be in California for the Indian Wells tournament after five years. The five-time winner had last featured in the tournament in 2019 where he exited in the third round after losing to retired Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Djokovic said, talking to the reporters:

It feels great. There's a reason why they call it Tennis Paradise. It’s an enjoyable experience for players, for fans. Anybody who really loves the sport enjoys this tournament very much. So I was very excited to come back. It's been five years and time flies incredibly fast. Novak Djokovic said

Following his arrival in Indian Wells, the Serbian enjoyed some family time in nearby Los Angeles. He will play Australian Aleksandar Vukic in the second round. The Serbian, who has won the Indian Wells title five times is aiming for his sixth.
