Draw Geneva Open 2025: Taylor Fritz and Novak Djokovic find out fate in Roland Garros pre-cursor
IPA

The draw has been confirmed for the Geneva Open which will take place between 18-24 May, 2025 and is an ATP 2050 which takes place in the week prior to Roland Garros.

It features Taylor Fritz and Novak Djokovic as the leading star power on offer in the tournament with Casper Ruud the defending champion deciding against entering this year.

Ruud reached the Quarter-Finals in Rome where he was well beaten by Jannik Sinner. But prior to that he also won Madrid so is having a rest ahead of Roland Garros.

For the other two main seeds, it is about getting pivotal game time and wins. Djokovic could have a chance for instant revenge against Matteo Arnaldi at the Geneva Open. Seeded second, he is on a collision course with his Madrid Open conqueror.

He faces the winner of Marton Fucsovics or Zizou Bergs in his opener with Arnaldi likely in the Quarter-Finals. The Italian faces Hugo Gaston in the first round and either Fabian Marozsan or a qualifier in the second round.

A Djokovic-Arnaldi rematch would be the aim for the Serbian after a crushing 6-3, 6-4 loss last month. He also lost last year to Tomas Machac who he could feasibly play again in the semi-finals for the second straight year. He won in last year's semi-finals. But Djokovic improved to 2-1 with a win at the Australian Open this year.

Taylor Fritz is top seed. He faces Jaume Munar or Quentin Halys in his opener. Hubert Hurkacz is also involved as is Karen Khachanov who are likely opponents in the next few rounds. He was dumped out by Marcos Giron in Rome so like Djokovic needs confidence.

Geneva has suffered with players withdrawing this week including Ruud and Dimitrov albeit not as much as Hamburg with Zverev roped in to cover after Sinner led the charge that also included Musetti and Tsitsipas not to play the ATP 500.
