Both Emma Raducanu and Naomi Osaka have elected to pull out of their scheduled charity match on Rod Laver Arena, resulting in it being cancelled entirely.

Raducanu returned to the WTA Tour last week after eight months on the injury sidelines, following surgery on both wrists and 'a minor procedure' on her left ankle.

The Brit won her opening match in Auckland, before battling in a three set defeat to eventual runner-up Elina Svitolina.

It was a similar story for Osaka, however the four-time major winner was returning after 15 months following giving birth to her first child.

In Brisbane, the Japanese star beat Tamara Korpatsch in the first round before losing to former No.1 Karolina Pliskova in three sets.

The pair had signed up to this charity match, as they look to get some final practice in ahead of the Australian Open.

However, Osaka decided to withdraw first and was replaced by Croatian Donna Vekic.

Raducanu followed Osaka, causing Tennis Australia to release a statement about the match being cancelled, “Unfortunately, the charity match scheduled for (Tuesday) evening will not take place. The players have regretfully withdrawn for precautionary reasons.

“We are incredibly excited for the three action-packed charity matches we have scheduled over the next three nights.”

Despite this cancellation, there are still a series of other charity matches scheduled for the rest of the week on Rod Laver Arena.

This will kick-off tomorrow, when Carlos Alcaraz returns to take on new top 10 player Alex de Minaur.

The action will continue on Thursday, with an event enlisted Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Aryna Sabalenka, Maria Sakkari and some special guests, before things reach a conclusion on Friday with Alcaraz vs Casper Ruud.

Raducanu is still scheduled to compete this week at the Kooyong Classic, an exhibition event that also features Jannik Sinner, Holger Rune and Andy Murray, that takes place between Wednesday and Friday.
