Britain’s Emma Raducanu’s next competition has been revealed. The 22-year-old, who was once regarded as the next big thing, has had a poor start to the 2025 season where she suffered some serious defeats.
She was knocked out of the first Grand Slam of the year — the Australian Open — after losing in the third round to world number two Iga Swiatek in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-0. After that, things deteriorated further. She lost in the opening round of the Singapore Open to Spain’s Cristina Bucșa with a score of 5-7, 7-5, 7-5.
After that, she was knocked out after losing in the first round of the Abu Dhabi Open after losing to Marketa Vondrousova in the first round in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4. Most recently, Raducanu suffered another major setback as she was knocked out after losing in the first round of the Qatar Open Ekaterina Alexandrova in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 7-5.
The former world number 10 will now have her eyes set in the upcoming event in Dubai. She will be featuring in the Dubai Masters. The development was confirmed by English media outlet Daily Express as well. Raducanu will be hoping that the event in Dubai will provide her an opportunity to regain some form after series of disappointing results in the recently past.
Raducanu broke onto the scene in 2021 when she lifted the US Open at the age of 18. The most impressive aspect of Raducanu’s success in that particular competition was the fact that she started the competition from the qualifying round and still managed to go all the way and secure the ultimate prize after beating Canda’s Leylah Fernandez in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-3.
