Another day, another piece of history at the French Open. This time, though, it was World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz who made waves at Court Philippe-Chatrier.

It has been an eventful past few days in the 2025 iteration of Roland-Garros. Over the weekend, tennis icon Rafael Nadal was honored following his retirement in November 2024.

The Grand Slam tournament, where Nadal won 14 titles and accumulated a 112-4 record, presented the "King of Clay" with a silver plaque bearing his footprint — placed near the net post on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Then on Tuesday, French star Gael Monfils made history, as he tied Yannick Noah for the most match wins (40) at Roland-Garros by a Frenchman.

Now, after beating Hungarian player Fabian Marozsan on Wednesday, Alcaraz also joined the French Open history books. According to the Roland-Garros Instagram account, the 22-year-old has officially reached 20 wins in the competition.

Apparently, only Nadal has achieved that mark faster over the last two and a half decades.

"20 wins in 23 matches at Roland-Garros," the post stated, while featuring a photo of Alcaraz and Nadal. "No one has reached that many victories faster in the past 25 years, except Rafael Nadal."

It's certainly quite the achievement, especially considering how dominant Rafael Nadal was at the French Open. That being said, to be mentioned in the same breath as Rafa when talking about Roland-Garros speaks volumes.

To make things even better, both Alcaraz and Nadal are from Spain. With Nadal calling it a career already, it sure looks like Alcaraz is ready to take over as the next dominant tennis force from the nation.

Alcaraz has four Grand Slam titles, including one from the French Open in 2024.
