'I don't want air sandwiches': Andy Murray jokes about Novak Djokovic's vegan diet after coaching split
Abaca Press

Andy Murray recently offered a humorous take on the positive side of his separation from Novak Djokovic, after five months as his coach. The three-time Grand Slam champion surprised many by joining Nole's team just months after his own retirement, but their partnership was short-lived following Djokovic's uncharacteristic results.

Despite the split, both men have emphasized their strong relationship. Murray himself recently spoke about the decision to part ways in an interview with UbiTennis, praising his former rival. "It's been a great ride. We both decided it was time to part ways."

However, Sir Andy admitted there was one aspect of his relationship with Nole that he was far from happy about, and he's glad it will change now that they're no longer working together. "One thing I won't miss is the food. He was always trying to get me to eat vegan. Man, I don't want air sandwiches and chickpeas for every meal."

Djokovic is preparing for his debut at the Geneva Open this Wednesday, May 21st, where he's the second seed and will face Hungary's Marton Fucsovics in the Round of 16. The 24-time Grand Slam champion is looking to secure his first clay-court win of the season after consecutive early losses in Monte-Carlo and Madrid. Geneva will be Nole's final tournament before traveling to Paris for Roland Garros.
