'I think it’s good': Holger Rune shares one thing which he noticed while watching Carlos Alcaraz's Netflix documentary

Denmark’s Holger Rune has talked about Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz’s Netflix documentary. Both players have been playing together from an early age and recently featured in the final of the Barcelona Open.

In that contest, Rune came out on top in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-2. The 22-year-old is now taking part in the ongoing Rome Open, where he has cemented his spot in the round of 32 after beating Argentina’s Francisco Comesana with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. After the contest, Rune spoke about Alcaraz’s documentary, which was released on Netflix. The Gentofte-born star stated that he did speak about it in the locker room. Rune stated that the documentary was ‘good’ for the sport but suggested that at an early age, he was more serious than the Spaniard.

“I actually talked to him a little bit about it in the locker rooms,” said Rune as quoted by Tennis.com. “I think it’s good. I think it’s nice for tennis fans, and—I said basically the same thing after the Netflix thing I did with the rest of the players—I think it’s great for the tennis fans to see more of what’s behind the scenes. It’s cool, because we’re all human. I don’t want to say anything controversial, but I might have been a little bit more serious than him in juniors. But he’s catching up and is very serious now.”

Rune also went on to speak about Alcaraz’s time as a youngster. The reigning world number 10 stated that it was clear from the early days that the Spaniard was a special talent, something which has been confirmed with his performances at the highest level.

“In juniors, you could see his potential, his talent, everything,” he said. “He was an amazing player and, of course, Spanish people live differently than Danish people. It’s a different kind of character. He’s a guy that loves playing tennis and is extremely good at it. It’s cool to see and from my side, I think [his experience is] normal for every player. You don’t feel the same every day, the same motivation every day, but it’s normal.”
