Canada’s Bianca Andreescu has shared her objective coming into Wimbledon 2025. The second Grand Slam of the year will commence on June 30, and the qualifying rounds have already begun.

Andreescu is currently playing in the qualifying round, where she cemented her spot in the second phase after beating Brazil’s Laura Pigossi in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-1. The 25-year-old spoke to Wimbledon’s official website ahead of her second phase encounter against fellow countrywoman Carson Branstine.

Andreescu, who has struggled with fitness concerns since winning the US Open in 2019, stated that she is looking forward to becoming a player who intimidates her opponents. Andreescu noted that she is also looking forward to playing in the competition, where she feels that she has been playing ‘well’.

“I’m just trying to treat every match as a Grand Slam final, in a way. I’m very happy to be here again,” she said. “I remember stepping on to court in the main draw, thinking it was so crazy, so overwhelming for me. Now with my experience, I’m just trying to take every match as a Grand Slam final, in a way. I’m very happy to be here again. I don’t want the conversation to always be, ‘Oh, Bianca is having another comeback.’ Focusing on my health and mental health is my priority. I don’t want to set any result goals, I want to be more performance orientated, giving my best every single day. The narrative could be, ‘Bianca is so focused, we don’t want to f**k with Bianca.' Every draw I want them to be scared of playing me. I definitely like the grass. In a way it’s a living thing – I’m trying to be in touch with my spirituality in that sense, touching the grass, speaking to it, and I think it’s helping for the most part. It gives me that faith in myself with this surface. I have this mindset of being one with the grass, because you never know what you’re going to get.”
