'I want to enjoy his tennis,' Carlos Alcaraz wants to enjoy every bit of Rafael Nadal’s last moments on tour

Carlos Alcaraz is a big Rafael Nadal fan and like any of the Spaniard’s fans, he is also emotional about the 22-time Grand Slam champion nearing his last moments on the tour. Alcaraz says that he does not want his idol to hang his racket but as it is inevitable now, he just wants to enjoy every bit of his last moments.

As Nadal is said to be playing his last few tournaments, his fans as well as tennis fans in general want to enjoy his game. The 37-year-old will open his campaign at the 2024 Roland Garros against Germany’s Alexander Zverev. This might prove to be Nadal’s last game and hence everyone including Alcaraz just wants to live the moment.

The 22-year-old was asked about his thoughts about this edition of the Roland Garros being Nadal’s last. Alcaraz acknowledged the importance this tournament holds for Nadal who has won a record 14 titles so far in his career. He then talked about enjoying every moment from hereon.

Well, I know that it's a really special tournament for him, and it's a shame that we're going to watch his last tournament here. All I want to be focused on is to enjoy his last tournament as much as he can play. I want to enjoy his tennis, but obviously, everything comes to an end, honestly, I don't want to see him retiring soon or playing his last tournaments. Carlos Alcaraz said about Rafael Nadal.

While all eyes will be on Rafael Nadal in the first round of the 2024 Roland Garros, Carlos Alcaraz‘s fitness and performance will also be under observation. The Spaniard is returning to action after a halt. Alcaraz was nursing a forearm injury and resultantly, missed the Rome Masters.

Now, he is back for the 2024 Roland Garros and will play in the opening round. The 22-year-old says he is feeling better than before and is able to hit shots without any pain, which is a good sign for him. Alcaraz said that he put in those extra efforts to be able to play at the Grand Slam tournament.

I'm feeling better. Every practice that I have done here, at home, it was pretty good. I'm feeling better and better. At least I can practice, hit balls without pain. That's a really good point for me. I'm excited to play my first match here in Roland Garros. This tournament is one of the main reasons that I'm practicing every day, want to be a better player to be able to win these kind of tournaments. Carlos Alcaraz said at the pre-match press conference.

Notably, Alcaraz will open his campaign at the French Open against JJ Wolf. The Spaniard is expected to come out on top and also go deeper into the tournament. Alcaraz will be hoping to win his maiden Grand Slam on clay but will face stern challenges from the likes of Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic.
