Andy Murray hasn't ruled out future coaching plans after a "brilliant" opportunity to work with 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic. The British former world No. 1 retired less than a year ago, but his time away from tennis was brief, as he was confirmed as his old rival's coach just months later.

Murray returned to the Queen's Club Championships this week for the first time since his retirement. As part of the tournament's opening, he received a significant honor: Centre Court was renamed Andy Murray Court, a name that officially began use today, with its first match featuring two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova against Brazil's Beatriz Haddad Maia.

The former No. 1 responded to an interview with BBC Sport, where he discussed his time working with Djokovic. The news came as a surprise that shook the tennis world, and Murray admitted he would consider coaching again. "I would do it again at some stage," the Brit stated. "I don't think that will happen immediately."

Murray had retired in July 2024 at the Olympic Games, and by the end of the season, he was announced as the new coach of his old rival Djokovic – who had spent a good part of the season looking for a new coach after parting ways with Goran Ivanisevic.

"I wasn't planning on going into coaching as soon as I finished playing, but it was a pretty unique opportunity. It was a chance to learn from one of the best athletes of all time. You also learn a lot about how to work with a team."

"As an individual athlete, you have a team of people around you, but you're the focal point, whereas when you're coaching an individual, you're working with a physio, physical trainers, agents, and you need to know how to get your message across to the player and find out what makes them tick.”

Murray coached Djokovic for just over four months, accompanying him through five tournaments but without any joint titles.
