Iga Swiatek has progressed through the Australian Open in fairly smooth fashion as she has made her way to the last eight of the competition.
The Pole is one stage away from her best-ever performance at the Melbourne event, as she holds two semi-final appearances to her name in 2022 and 2025.
Swiatek will face Elena Rybakina in the quarter-final, who she has beaten in six of their 11 meetings in their career.
The world number two will be buoyed ahead of her match with Rybakina as she hit an impressive streak in her round of 16 match.
After her victory against Maddison Inglis, Swiatek claimed her 50th Grand Slam victory at hard court events.
She has become the youngest player to claim that number since Caroline Wozniacki managed the feat at the US Open in 2014.
Swiatek will make yet more history if she wins the next three games at the Australian Open because she will achieve a Career Grand Slam.
The world number two is only missing the Australian Open from her CV, having claimed four Roland Garros crowns and one US Open and Wimbledon title.
Swiatek’s new hard court record is particularly impressive as the Pole has only claimed one hard court Grand Slam in her career.
Swiatek has become a mainstay at the back end of Grand Slams and the Australian Open marks the Pole’s sixth consecutive time in a major quarter-final.
She is the youngest player to achieve the feat since Serena Williams managed the achievement at the age of 22.
Williams managed the feat between Roland Garros in 2002 and Wimbledon in 2003, which also saw her win three of those six Grand Slams.
Swiatek has won one of her last six Grand Slam appearances, at Wimbledon in 2025, although she will be hoping to make that two in Melbourne.
